Event Description:
The Gloversville Business Improvement District (BID), Gloversville Community Music and the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce present the second concert in their 2018-2019 Chamber Music at the Chamber series with Vocalist Tess McCarthy performing with Pianist/Composer Max Caplan on Saturday, November 17 at 3pm at the Gloversville Community Music, in the Schine Memorial Hall Building, 40 N. Main Street, Gloversville.  The space is on the building’s third floor and there is elevator access.
                Mezzo Soprano Tess McCarthy has most recently appeared with the Musicians of Ma'alwyck as the title role in a “Aleda or Flight of the Suffbird Women,” a new opera by composer Max Caplan with whom she will be performing at the November 17 concert. In addition to Musicians of Ma'alwyck, McCarthy has sung as a soloist with local groups including The Burnt Hills Oratorio Society, The Octavo Singers, The Jubilate Singers, and the SUNY Albany Masterworks Chorale. Mrs. McCarthy's other opera appearances include the role of Hänsel in the 2016 Midwest Institute of Opera's production of Englebert Humperdinck’s “Hänsel and Gretel” as well as the part of Pernille the maid in the opera “The Beautiful Bridegroom.” Mrs. McCarthy lives in Albany with her husband, Dave, who is a tenor. Dave and Tess both sing as soloists and section leaders at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, Albany.
Tickets are $10 pre-sale and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased in Gloversville at the Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market, 30 N. Main Street and the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce, 2 N. Main Street.  Tickets sell out quickly. If there are remaining tickets, they will be sold at the door at $15 per person. 
                The Chamber Music at the Chamber series is partnering with local restaurants to encourage people to eat locally, especially on this concert evening. For this concert, ticketholders are invited to have dinner after the show at Kingsboro Golf Club/Double Eagle Restaurant, 301 Kingsboro Avenue, where specials will be offered to those who redeem their concert tickets the night of the concert.
