This exhibit is drawn from local public and private collections and focuses on the works by long time Canada Lake summer resident Paul Bransom, frequently considered the Dean of American Animal artists. From his early childhood, drawing animals was a compulsion and a part of his essential nature. He would say that animal artists “…are born, not made.” He saw animals not as objects, but as sentient beings with their own natures which he sought to explore and understand through his art. Through his widely popular book and magazine illustrations, Paul Bransom became an important advocate for animal rights.
