After spending a year and a half on the road doing stand up, Tommy's coming back to Glove Theatre with a new show - featuring Tommy & friends for an evening of stand-up comedy not to be missed! Location: Meet at the Farmhouse Registration: Members: $5/person, $15/family; non-members: $15/person, $25/family The American Woodcock is a shorebird that has adapted to upland habitats. In the spring males return to open fields to sing and do an aerial flight display to attract females. Join us from 8:00 - 9:30 PM when we will search for and try to sneak up on singing males and learn about this once in the year behavior. The Glove Theatre can't wait to welcome back - Back to the Garden (BTTG) 1969 - The Woodstock Experience! What a blast we had with them last year! The Woodstock Music Festival was the ultimate rock concert, a celebration of peace, love and music. More than fifty years later, BTTG brings you back to the music and that weekend. Formed by Gary Adamson in 2009, this is a group of versatile musicians and singers who have come together to celebrate the music, and the spirit of the Woodstock Era. BTTG 1969 recreates the classic sounds associated with Woodstock. The musical performances are a tribute to the artists who made Woodstock great, including Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jimi Hendrix, Sly &The Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin, The Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Canned Heat, Ten Years After, The Who, Mountain, Richie Havens, Melanie, Arlo Guthrie, Blood, Sweat & Tears, The Grateful Dead, Country Joe & The Fish,?and more! BTTG 1969 brings you a full multimedia theatrical event, recreating the Woodstock Experience through period costuming, lighting, video, and sound bites. Storytelling also enhances the mood, with tales of the festival, the legendary artists who performed, and the backdrop of the tumultuous decade of the 60?s. This is not your typical tribute band! Most tribute bands perform the music of only one artist. BTTG 1969 is a tribute to a very special moment in time, and to the many artists whose music will forever be known as ?Classic Rock.? Organics in the circular economy: How they affect our carbon footprint at Landis Aboretum
Location: The Nicholas J. Juried Meeting House Registration: Free. Donations to the Arboretum greatly appreciated. Join us from 10;00 AM to noon to learn about organic recycling, an important step in effectively reducing our carbon footprint. Organic recycling starts with collection, moving it into our yards, farms or central facilities so it can be processed. Microbes turn our organic waste into a resource and we can help make that happen. We will discuss different ingredients (manures, cloth, food waste, yard waste, livestock mortality..) that we can convert into a product. Compost use is the third leg on the climate footprint stool and really makes an impact. Compost is used in erosion control, growing fruit and vegetables, orchards, agroforestry, organic and conventional farms, rural and urban landscapes. Learn how to use compost blankets, sox, and berms. Organics make up 60 % of our waste, not including livestock manure or humanure (human manure), when they are placed in a landfill to emit greenhouse gases. Using compost is the key to reducing our carbon footprint by 3x more than compost processing itself. Instructor: Jean Bonhotal, Cornell University, has 30 years experience in organics recycling with Cornell Waste Management Institute. This event is free for all participants.
