FOR ASSISTANT:

Summary: Assist and support the Program Coordinator in the daily operation of the program, display and teach positive interaction skills, supervise program aides and children.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Directly supervise children, program aides and volunteers.
  • Provide and promote safe and effective activities that are in accordance with programming goals.
  • Teach and promote self-development, socialization skills, and positive academic behaviors and attitudes.
  • Monitor student attendance and absence.
  • Complete or ensure completion of meal provision and meal count.
  • Contribute to planning, assessment and evaluation of the program.
  • Report any significant incident/occurrence that will require follow-up with a parent or service provider to the Program Coordinator immediately.
  • Complete and submit time sheets, student reports, and other statistical information on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Adhere to NYS Mandated Reporter policies regarding child abuse and neglect; including compliance to all state rules and reporting requirements, and report any such information to the Program Coordinator immediately.
  • Attend trainings relevant to the enhancement of skills for position, including the annual AASP Staff Development Day.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities include but are not limited to training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience requirements include a Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from a four-year college or university; an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with previous related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. New York State Certified Teacher Preferred.
