About the Role…

The Maintenance Supervisor for Beech-Nut Nutrition Company, reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, will be responsible for supervising, assigning, reviewing, and participating in the maintenance of plant equipment, machinery, and related facilities. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures. 

 

Supervisory Responsibility…

Direct: Electromechanical technicians (~20)

Indirect: Manufacturing Personnel

 

About the Team…

The Maintenance Team is responsible for maintaining the plant equipment we use everyday here at our facility in order to make, fill, and pack all of our nutritious foods. The team works closely with various internal teams including Supply Chain, Production and Engineering to make sure our equipment is running as efficiently as possible so we can continue doing what we do best – making high quality, safe, and nutritious foods for babies and toddlers!

 

About the Work Environment…

This position is located at the Amsterdam, New York LEED® certified production facility. The job will require working through out the Beech-Nut facility, with majority of the time spent on the production floor. While working in the production areas a hair net, beard cover (as needed), safety glasses, hearing protection and lab coat are required as additional personal protective equipment. Restrictions include wearing of jewelry, nail polish and acrylic nails. Other personal protection equipment may be required for certain tasks.

What You’ll Do…

  • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of unionized electromechanical technicians. responsible for the maintenance of the production and facility equipment including repairing and installing all electronic, electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing maintenance and repair services; identifying resource needs; reviewing needs with appropriate management staff; and allocating resources accordingly.
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
  • Train electromechanical technicians in all safety equipment and procedures especially Lock-Out/Tag-Out and confined space entry. 
  • Participate in the selection of plant maintenance staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; and implement discipline procedures.
  • Participate in the preparation and administration of the plant maintenance program budget; submit budget recommendations; and monitor expenditures.
  • Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings, staying abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of plant and facility equipment maintenance.

What You’ll Need…

  • 10+ years supervisory experience with a background in electrical technology supporting a manufacturing environment with increased responsibility OR
  • Associates degree in electrical technology field with 5+ years supervisory experience in manufacturing with increased responsibility for maintenance operations/maintenance planning OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical technology field with 3+ year’s supervisory experience in manufacturing with increased responsibility for maintenance operations/maintenance planning
  • Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies, reliability centered maintenance analysis, and total productive maintenance
  • Experience with CMMS systems (Maximo/MP2/Tabware/ITMS)
  • Above average skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), especially in Excel. 
  • Conceptual and practical experience with Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Preferred Certifications: 
    1. Completion of a formal 5-year maintenance apprenticeship program highly desirable
    2. Lean Certification
  • Preferred Systems: 
    1. Experience with Tabware
  • Ability to work any assigned shift including weekend coverage.

Pay: The annual base salary range for this in-person role is $65,000 - $90,000. This is a salaried-exempt position.
