Fork Truck Driver-Material Handler Specialist- 3rd Shift

About the Role…

The Material Handler reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor and is responsible for using a forklift to support the movement of materials from receiving, through the manufacturing process, and then finished product from shipping. The candidate will work closely with manufacturing, quality, and other logistics personnel. This is a third shift opportunity.

This includes the movement of raw materials, forecasting our finished goods needs and movement of goods between warehouses. When customers place their orders, our team ensures the items are delivery on time, in full and per the customers specifications – making high quality, safe, and nutritious foods for babies and toddlers!

About the Work Environment…

This position is located at the Amsterdam, New York LEED® certified production facility.   The candidate will also be required to work in a food manufacturing environment that requires hairnet, beard cover, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes and uniform. Restrictions include wearing of jewelry, nail polish and acrylic nails. Other personal protection equipment may be required for certain tasks. Manufacturing floor is not climate controlled, so it is generally warm in the summer and cool in the winter, and material handlers work in/out of coolers. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs individually. 

 

What You’ll Do…

  • Use forklift to load/unload trucks or containers, move items into or out of production, and into or out of storage (vertical racking, flow racking, in ambient or freezer locations).   
  • Inspect trucks or containers prior to loading/unloading.
  • Issue components and uses forklift to stage materials for production. 
  • Use forklift to move garbage, waste, etc.
  • Safely operate equipment (Sit down/Stand up forklift, pallet jack, etc.) to accomplish job tasks. Perform equipment inspections prior to use.
  • Use scanning equipment or completes manual entries to ensure accurate and timely tracking of inventory. This includes processing accurate incoming receipts and outgoing shipments.
  • Attach identifying tags to boxes or marks them with identifying information.
  • Operate, changeover, clean, and troubleshoot palletizing equipment.
  • Keep warehouse clean and organized to ensure a safe work environment. 
  • Assist in cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Support general housekeeping and sanitation within the work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What You’ll Need…

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Basic computer skills required (ex. typing)
  • Ability to read and write in English language required
  • Experience in light industrial or warehousing preferred. Previous material handling equipment (forklift) experience a plus
  • Experience using warehouse systems (ex. SAP, Oracle)
  • Experience with RF guns or Voice Pick
