DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE             Cook

 

SUMMARY                      Prepare food to provide nutrition and variety to the residents.  

 

 

REPORT TO                           Food Service Director                                               

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB              1.   Prepare food daily as outlined on the weekly menu plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

                                          2.   Identify food and supplies needed for the next week's menus and

                                                Report to the Food Service Director.

                                          3.   Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery;

                                          Ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.  Assist with rotation of stored items.  Date items upon delivery.

                                          4.   Maintain a clean, orderly and safe kitchen environment.

                                          5.   Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection

                                                Control.

                                          6.   Ensure compliance with regulations.

                                           7.   Coordinate and participate in serving and plating of food.

                                           8.   Monitor portion control to meet residents' requests and minimize

                                                Waste.

                                           9.   Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.

                                         10.   Notify Food Service Director of malfunction of equipment or  appliances.

                                         11.   Assign work to Food Service Assistants

                                                In the food service program.

                                            12. Other duties as assigned by Food Service Director
