Responsibilities:
- Educator:
- Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates education plans based on identified needs of the learner and organization related to initial and ongoing competencies, educational programs and professional development.
- Uses a variety of methodologies to incorporate adult learning principles for desired outcomes.
- Consultant:
- Collaborates as an educational consultant to facilities, task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure, and program development.
- Responds to regulatory mandates and identified needs to promote quality patient care and safety.
- Researcher:
- Supports and participates in the integration of research into practice.
- Interprets, communicates, and incorporates research findings into program planning and staff development.
- Facilitator:
- Facilitates the adult learning process; coordinates educational activities by identifying and recruiting internal and external resources for the internal employed or external student or professional learner.
- Change Agent:
- Responds to changes in nursing practice and develops programs that are congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals to support those changes and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
- Leader:
- Leads committees, workgroups and /or projects to implement educational activities and builds collaborative relationships among the team members.
- Special Projects:
- Collaborates in special projects to support the organizational strategic plan.
- Participates in committees, task forces, and projects assigned to clinical education.
Additional Responsibilities:
- On-Line Learning System: Collaborates with Education Specialist to ensure effective use of learning system to advance learning and use of system database for capturing learning activities and compliance. Other duties as assigned. Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Participants in orientation, workshops, or programs.
Education Requirements:
- BS Nursing or related field Required. Minimum of 5 years in clinical nursing with at least 2 years in ambulatory nursing. Minimum of 2 years in clinical education, staff development or teaching preferred. Certfications/Licensure: Current NYS nursing license, BLS.
