What does an Incident Investigator do?

The Incident Investigator handles investigations of abuse, neglect, significant incidents, and notable occurrences per agency policies and OPWDD regulations. They may also work on high-level projects to ensure compliance and improve service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's Degree + 1 year of experience working with people with intellectual developmental disabilities, an Associate's Degree + 3 years of experience, or a High School Diploma + 5 years of experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience conducting investigations preferred.
  • Must complete OPWDD and Justice Center Incident Investigation training, SCIP-R, and CPR certifications within the first 90 days of employment.
  • A valid NYS driver's license meeting Agency standards is required.
